Our few warriors could not afford to be ill, they scavenged each day for our meals and helped us to plant our roots and prosper into the largest colony in the asylum. Efforts to thwart our rule have proven futile. We are no longer some simple band of sewer rats - we are an empire." - Mistress Cassia

Places to Remember
Entrance: The stairway to the entrance opens up from the sewer and leads to an abandoned janitors closet where the utopia known as the Empire has been constructed in a colony hutch. It should be known that guards regularly patrol the entrance area and there are tubes at the top of the room that open into the rooms of inmates.
Commons: The lowest and largest level of the empire, most of the citizens live here. It is relatively clean and most of the homes are constructed of wood.
Cottages: Right above the commons, some of the rats that have specialized abilities or are very skilled in their job set are granted these homes by the Mistresses. The medium sized cottages are made from rock.
Mansions: Highly decorated and just below the Palace, the rats of very high prestige live in these homes. They are all made from metal and can hold large rat families.
Palace: The top level to only house Mistresses, if any other citizens see inside they are considered lucky or blessed. Many paws - namely steampunk - took years to build some of the advanced equipment available to the Mistresses.

In this unique colony rats are branched into groups known as troops. All troops are lead by a promising gentleman rat who is known as the deputy. The deputy takes orders from the Mistresses and directs all the cadets in his troop to get the task accompished. At the center of the colony are the Mistresses, who are like monarchs, they head as a cabinet for the colony to follow loyally and obidently. They are commonly viewed as royalty to the rats and any opposition of their wishes is a severe crime in the community - punishable by exile. At the heart of the colony there are Nurse rats who heal all the injured, care for new pups, and are personal chefs and medicine creators for the colony. One of the duties of the Victorian Rats in the troops is to bring in the food and herbs for the Nurses. Is in not unseen for Victorian rats to help out with the decor of the hutch and sewing of dresses and blankets for new arrivals. Plague Rats in the troops are commonly called tinkers and are architects for all devices and structures in the colony - making them an extremely vital piece to improvement and well-being of all the rats involved. Each rat is vital to the colony as a whole and must pull their weight in daily life to avoid becoming unless and, possily, exiled.

Each rat has a full name, followed by a call name, then a birthdate and their current position in the colony. New rats will be added to the colony when the Mistresses find a fit gentlerat or lady, or if a pup is born.

Short explanations of classes in society. Prestige is represented by a numberwith six being the highest.
[6] Mistress: The highest class only held by Victorian women born with the blessed ear shape. They rule and decide everything about the society.
[5] Druid/Oracle: Spiritual healers, men as Druids and women as Oracles, these rats hold the religious values of the colony and are known to have connections to the afterlife and future. They make herb mixes for tokens of different life paths and decide jobs for all young rats in conjunction with the Mistresses.
[4] Medic: Physical healers, they patch wounds and make herb mixes for ailments. They often also check food and prepare meals for the colony. Any spiritual advice or child-bearing is off limits to Medics.
[3] Noble: A rat that had advanced in society to have great prestige. These rats typically have no job but control over a large food storage.
[3] Deputy: Rats crafted in a job skill that teach and direct the less experienced to grow into well rounded and hard working rats. Each Deputy is assigned a troop of Warrior/Cadets for job specifications. Deputy can be reached through exemplary work as a Warrior or favor with the Mistresses.
[2] Warrior/Cadet: The heart of the colony, warriors and cadets gather food and protect their home with their life. They are under direct control of an assigned Deputy.
[1] Servant: Assigned helpers to Nobles. This is the only class that Pterra rats are allowed due to prejudice.
[1] Juvenile: Young rats who are still being assessed for a job or shamed rats that will never be given a proper title due to heritage.

Empire Monarchs

Mistress: a woman of the cabinet, called a Monarch when not speaking directly to the individual. This group of ladies make the decisions for the colony to ensure the best order and healthiest possible living arrangements. One of their main aims is to be positive that there is food for all rats. Little slack is given in this area of life and death.

	Full Name: Mistress Lucielle Dimonte Call Name: Mistress Lucy Birthdate: September 28th, 2011 Current Position: Mistress	Personality: The calm matriarch, Lucy likes to think of everything with a level head. She is decidedly pro-life and many of her votes in the house mimic her peaceful nature. She often visits the sick rats in the infirmary to make sure health care is up to check. Passionate about children, she hopes to have an impact on the laws against free-range breeding in the Empire.
	Full Name: Mistress Cassia Debonaire Call Name: Mistress Cassia Birthdate: September 28th, 2011 Current Position: Mistress	Personality: A gasoline fire would describe Cassia, she believes in the traditional laws and her votes always mirror them without waiver. She tries to do things in the most efficient way possible and has immense respect for the elder warriors of the colony.
	Full Name: Mistress Octavia Reid Call Name: Mistress Reid Birthdate: August 15th, 2012 Current Position: Mistress	Personality: An ex-gypsy, she knows of life outside of the asylum but rarely speaks of it. When she came inside of the walls, she was unable to escape due to injury. The decision to settle was easy when she recognized what a high power she would have in a colony. Her glittering ruby eyes seem to have an intense intellect behind them.
	Full Name: Mistress Victoria Clandestine Call Name: Mistress V Birthdate: November 14th, 2012 Current Position: Mistress	Personality: Sweet, though a little empty in the head. Victoria is emotionally stable, open with her life, kind as can be, and possibly one of the most attractive rats in The Empire. Mistress Clandestine is very traditional in her few views, but can be easily swayed.
	Full Name: Mistress Genevieve Rowan Call Name: Mistress Rowan Birthdate: August 13th, 2012 Current Position: Mistress	Personality: The shoulder of strength, just because she wears a dress does not mean she should be seen as weak. She is level-headed and can fight with the best of the warriors. She takes it as a personal duty to make the brood grow into the best adults they can be. Known to love social studies and law, she is a story teller when she is not on Mistress duties.

	Full Name: Dame Helena Astrisk Call Name: Dame Helena Birthdate: March 3rd, 2010 Current Position: Medic	Personality: The older sister to Dame Hayden Astrisk, Helena can be bossy and overbearing when she believes others are breaking a code of conduct or dress. She is rarely in the cadet field- though she certainly has the choice - preferring to stay back at the hutch and do the daily errands to uphold cleanliness. Seeing her unkept is a certain sign of hardship and stress.
	Full Name: Miss Ravenna Sterling Call Name: Miss Sterling Birthdate: March 24th, 2010 Current Position: Medic	Personality: Miss Sterling is an assistant where she is needed, she commonly helps out juveniles. Many think it is odd to see such a fit lady not in the field... until they see her unmoving eyes. Her lack of sight has acutally lead to her being a very good chef, she has a walking stick that she uses to get through unfamiliar places.
	Full Name: Miss Evaline Rauling Call Name: Miss Eva Birthdate: April 10th, 2010 Current Position: Medic	Personality: Easily the most practiced and experienced medic in the asylum, Miss Eva has grown quite the reputation for herself. Good bedside manners along with more sanitary tools than those used on the inmates have made her the go-to for medical needs. She is extremely level headed and known to not be too feminine, despite her looks.
	Full Name: Doctor Phillip "Abracadavers" Dwight Call Name: Doctor Abracadavers Birthdate: September 26th, 2011 Current Position: Medic	Personality: This is a loon that you would never want to handle sharp objects. Doctor Abracadavers had frequent fantasies about becoming a surgeon - though little practice and questionable sanity to back it. He is kept in a dainty delusion where his dangers are away from others.
	Full Name: Miss Florence Barker Call Name: Nurse Barker Birthdate: December 16th, 2012 Current Position: Medic	Personality: Nurse Barker is seen as a mother figure to many of the other rats, she is sweet and caring to a fault with a gentle voice and the softest satin fur. She was actually cared for by one of the "doctors" in the asylum. She defends the humans and is very attentive to any inmate in need. A very well rounded rat fit to be a nurse.

	Names: Lord Poe and Lady Lydia Tyto Call Names: Lord and Lady Tyto Birthdates: August 25th, 2012 & August 20th, 2012 Current Positions: Nobles	Personalities: The Tyto family is one known to have ample access to food stores that they have vaulted in The Empire Food Bank. Their products can feed the hungry through many winters and heal the sickened. Both are giving and generous rats, though Lady Tyto is quiet. Lord Tyto is often seen giving the young brood treats, as he wishes to have children.
	Names: Lady Antoinette "Truffles" Couverture Call Name: Lady Truffles or Lady Couverture Birthdate: November 2nd, 2012 Current Position: Noble	Personality: Very sweet with a taste for the finer things, Truffles is very enveloped and aware without being haughty. She enjoys making sweets for holidays and is seen as a baker and chocolatier for the colony. Her warm smile, glamorous fur, and shimmering eyes make her a common "rat model" of sorts. She appears to take little notice in her suitors though. Servant Information Name: Maid Catrina Calavera Birthdate: November 9th, 2012 Personality: Very quiet and to herself, she speaks in an odd tongue. Many rats are not open to her due to physical appearance. She experiences great prejudice between her looks and speech.

Empire Deputies

	Full Name: Sir Thadius Maxwell Call Name: Sir Thad Birthdate: February 28th, 2010 Position: Deputy	Personality: Thad was the first rat to begin to gather others into a group for safety, he wasn't thinking a colony when he was protecting the other rats from harm. He, Pepper, and Cedric are the rats that have the most power under the Mistresses. Thad rarely takes advantage of his place in the colony and prefers to act as an equal with all of his peers. Troop: Lilith, Oly, Alice, and Landon.
	Full Name: Count Vladamir Vandrix Call Name: Count Vlad Birthdate: March 2nd, 2010 Position: Deputy	Personality: A lack of common decency would be a perfect way to describe Count Vladamir. He is harsh and cruel to those he sees as weaker than himself and is often the bully to many smaller colony rats. He views love as a downfall and refuses to refer to his mate, Dame Hayden Astrisk, as anything other than a cadet and future mother to his brood. He is relatively disliked by the majority of rats, but Mistress Cassia believes him to be a warrior unlike any other. Troop: Hayden, Hatrik, Sofi, and Niklas.
	Full Name: Sir Vishnu Mocx Call Name: Sir Mocx Birthdate: December 31st, 2010 Position: Deputy	Personality: The least practiced of the deputies, Vishnu is hardly qualified to be in his position. Mistress Lucy sees some type of diamond in the rough with his personality. His scavenging team is often made of the younger warriors, which can give him an advantage in speed. Troop: Cas, Jaida, and Jay.
	Full Name: Sergeant Claude "Pepper" Silvermann Call Name: Sergeant Pepper Birthdate: September 26th, 2011 Position: Deputy	Personality: Claude came from a band of rats that had to fend for their lives daily. He has always been overqualified for the job as deputy. He holds good tact and many qualities that show him to have fantastic leadership. His imaginative thinking can help his troops get out of many sticky situations. He is favored by all the Mistresses and other colony members have a very hard time disliking Sergeant Pepper. 	Full Name: Dame Hayden Astrisk Call Name: Dame Hayden Birthdate: March 20th, 2010 Current Position: Cadet	Personality: The younger sister of Dame Helena Astrisk and mate to Count Vladamir Vandrix, she believes herself to be a rebel. Each morning she fastens armor onto herself to improve her defense when she fights, her sister keeps up with the grooming of her coat and application of her outfits. She has to have metal stitches in her back to hold a serious wound together from when she was younger - though she is still as great of a fighter as she was back then.
	Full Name: Madamoiselle Lilith Dalenka Call Name: Madam Lilith Birthdate: March 24th, 2010 Current Position: Cadet	Personality: Lilith has taken it upon herself to care for rats with special abilities, her and Miss Ravenna Sterling have become best friends over time for this reason. Born on the same day to two different parents, Lilith and Ravenna have been together since birth. Venturing out of the nest to find better opportunities, they happened upon Thad and his cadets on a trip for food, quickly being charmed and taken in by the handsome rat. It is rumored that Lilith and Thadius have had brood, but none of the sayings have been validated.

There are few rats who know this mysterious lady personally. Many find her mad.
	Full Name: Baroness Cordelia Olwyn Call Name: Baroness Oly Birthdate: May 2nd, 2011 Current Position: Cadet	Personality: Oly is a tinker. She loves building things that help daily life, her main work is with food carts for trading. She has learned from the inmates how to harness the power of steam to make locomotives move more quickly and to make trade more efficent. She is one of the rats who originally harnessed fire for daily use.
	Full Name: Lord Cedric Lothaire Call Name: Lord Cedric Birthdate: August 27th, 2011 Current Position: Retired Deputy to Cadet	Personality: Very aware and well-respected among other rats, Cedric is often found helping others in need. He is resourceful and will only fight when it becomes a last resort - but is absolutely fierce when he does so. He was a Deputy at a very early age, but retired to a Cadet after being mauled by the Warden's cat. He still does scouting under the command of his best friend Sergeant Pepper.

She has a passion for seeing new places and doing new things and is skilled in every job she has encountered. She prefers to work in the kitchen with Ravenna instead of doing warrior training.
	Full Name: Madamoiselle Alice Figwom Call Name: Madam Figwom Birthdate: August 15th, 2012 Current Position: Warrior/Inventor	Personality: Alice is a dreamer who desperately aches to fly. She is seen trying to invent creations that can be used to carry things by air. Her steam powered gauntlets allow her to be propelled up and build her projects. Other rats think she is mad, but appreciate her enthusiasm and hope to use her flying machines for trade routes.
	Full Name: Sir Garrison Jay Call Name: Sir Jay Birthdate: August 17th, 2012 Current Position: Warrior	Personality: He came from the colony where Cedric, Pepper, and the Tyto family decended. Very skilled in the art of combat, he will scuffle when need be. He prefers to calmly forage, the will to fight not appearing in him often. Many see him and wonder if his scars have to do with his kindness...
	Full Name: Sir Hatrik Casimer Call Name: Sir Casimer Birthdate: August 18th, 2012 Current Position: Warrior	Personality: A rebellious inventor with an eye for fine ideas, Hatrik is an asset to have in the inventors category. He has the heart of youth, seeking love often - though he is very stubborn and headstrong. He can take care of himself when he needs to, possibly being the strongest of his breed within Empire walls. Muscular with a broad muzzle, Hatrik is a nice looking young rat.
	Full Name: Lady Sofi Blakenshear Call Name: Lady Sofi Birthdate: August 27th, 2012 Current Position: Warrior	Personality: Vain and stubborn with a low regard of Mistresses, Sofi is not the most liked rat in the Empire. Others scold her for her views on the ranks and gawk at her relationship with Sir Casimer. She has been stripped from her right to pass on her genes due to her venomous tongue. Sofi skirts the edges of nearly being drove off on a basis. Rats whisper that it is a teenage phase she will grow out of.
	Full Name: Sir Landon Archer Call Name: Sir Landon Birthdate: August 26th, 2012 Current Position: Warrior	Personality: Unlike the other two rats in his trio - Sir Casimer and Lady Sofi - Landon is very grounded and is regarded highly by the other rats for his help in inventing the steam machines for trade. He is a very skilled tinker - as is in his plague nature - and loves to invent weapons of war. His hobbies and friends do not reflect in his personality. Landon may be the only reason that his friends have been allowed to stay in the Empire, as he is fiercely loyal to them; regarding them as littermates. He is an ambassador for his kind and can speak with any artistocrat Victorian skillfully.
	Full Name: Lord Niklas "Everett" Call Name: Lord Niklas Birthdate: December 19th, 2012 Current Position: Warrior/Lord	Personality: Niklas comes to the Empire from a cell of rats with no proper manner. He had never laid eyes on a rat who walked on their back legs - much less a Mistress. No last name was granted to him due to his insubordinance and lack of manners toward Mistress Cassia - he was also struck from taking his place as being a Lord and moved to a Cadet spot. Mistress Reid often calls him "Sir Everett," many rats now consider his offspring title to be Everett.
